Here at the Elks, one of our main objectives is to give back to the community. Here are some of the programs that we have:
Elks National Foundation (ENF)
Our Mission: Helping Elks Build Stronger Communities
The mission of the Elks National Foundation is to help Elks build stronger communities. We fulfill this pledge by investing in communities where Elks live and work. We help youth develop lifelong skills, send students to college, meet the needs of today’s veterans, support the charitable work of the state Elks associations, and fund projects that improve the quality of life in local Elks communities.
Like all Elks, the Foundation values the belief that charity is the greatest of all virtues and that by sharing and giving, we have the power to replace sorrow and despair with hope and confidence. Donations to the Foundation help us fund programs that match our cornerstone values of knowledge, integrity and community.
How much money our Lodge (#590) donates to ENF directly impacts how much grant money we qualify for. Our Lodge goal is $5 per member. Consider giving today by following the link below – be sure to record your Lodge number as 590.
Food Drives
Each Fall, our Lodge collects donations of boxed & canned foods, non-perishable goods, money, toiletries and more! The drive typically runs through October and ends mid-November.
Over the years Elks Lodge 590 has donated goods to the Coralville Community Food Pantry, the Iowa City Food Pantry at Pepperwood Plaza, and the Food Pantry at the University of Iowa.
Toys for Tots
Each year we collect donations for Toys for Tots! The drive begins in November and ends after the first week in December.
Give program
The Elks partners with the GIVE program. Members of the GIVE program are able to play golf at Elks Lodge 590 absolutely FREE!
Veteran Programs
Every year we host the National Disabled Veterans Golf Clinic in September. This program helps veterans from around the country and instructs them on how to golf and advance their golf game.
Ronald McDonald House
We are continuously collecting can tabs to donate to the Ronald McDonald House!
Hoop Shoot
The Elks Hoop Shoot, funded by the Elks National Foundation, is a free throw contest for children ages 8 to 13.
Through the Hoop Shoot program, the Elks have been unleashing grit for more than 50 years—long before researchers and experts concluded that grit is so important for our children. Just listen to the parents and contestants in these videos. They’re talking about grit.
